"It is a truth, universally acknowledged" that a good egg at breakfast equals a good morning. For those who grew up with "dippy eggs" or "runny eggs", you understand how delightful a perfectly, soft boiled egg can be: the creamy, rich, and golden yolk sitting in its white throne just a few spoonfuls away from being devoured. However, achieving this splendid degree of softness and perfection is often a hit and miss. You grow up, move out, and don't know what Mom and Dad did to make your egg perfect every time. Today is your lucky day! After several different attempts, I discovered a method that will guarantee a perfectly, soft boiled egg every time. To begin, I heated a pot of water at medium heat. I also salted the water. Once the water reaches a soft boil (between a simmer and a hard boil), I used a slotted spoon to place the egg into the water, The egg was cold, right out of the fridge. I set a timer for 6 minutes and then removed the egg and let it sit in a bath of cold water, for half a minute. Then, crack off the top with spoon and enjoy your perfectly soft boiled egg! | As side note, make sure that the temperature of the water is consistent throughout the cooking time, and make sure the egg is completely covered by the water. Also, I did not try this method with many eggs at a time. It works for 1-5 eggs at a time. If you needed to do many eggs, for a large brunch or a banquet you may want to search for a method that has tested cooking many eggs at the same time. Consistent heat is probably key for any method. Thank-you for stopping by. May your eggs always turnout in such a way that it brightens your morning:) Cheers! |
